      History of the Mojito

The Mojito is believed to have originated in Cuba, dating back to the 16th century. Its ancestor, a rustic drink called “El Draque,” was named after English pirate Sir Francis Drake. Over the centuries, the recipe evolved, and the Mojito became a refreshing staple of Cuban culture. Ernest Hemingway famously enjoyed it during his time in Havana, helping the cocktail gain global fame as the ultimate warm-weather drink.

      Tips and Variations

Balance the Lime and Mint: Use fresh ingredients and adjust lime juice and mint to taste for the perfect balance.
Crushed Ice for Texture: Crushed ice not only chills the drink but also enhances the texture and dilution over time.
Don’t Over-Muddle: Gently press the mint to release oils without breaking the leaves, which can add bitterness.

      Variations:
      • Pineapple Mojito: Add fresh pineapple chunks or juice for a tropical twist.
      • Coconut Mojito: Swap the simple syrup for coconut cream for a creamy, island-inspired version.
      • Berry Mojito: Add muddled berries like raspberries or blackberries for a fruity kick.
